Good news for the 'Well this weekend.

Motherwell have signed a new keeper - he looks like he is going to give Gordon Marshall a run for his money. His name is Barry John Corr and I look forward to seeing how he will perform.

Yet more rumours in the press about James McFadden supposedly signing for Celtic in the next few days. I hope against hope that this is wrong as we'll never get his true value from them, and yet another Scottish talent will spend most of his time warming the bench! We can't allow that to happen.

Pearson has seen the futility of his recent shock transfer request, so it seems he is happy to sign a new contract with us - which is FANTASTIC news.

Finally, or last close-season friendly against Fulham ended in a 2-2 draw with Burns scoring both - one a penalty and one in the dying seconds from a cross from Faddy.

Anyway, a former Motherwell player Eddie Forrest is in the news, for what I think is a sad reason. Some fans have found humour in this story - I just think it is a disgusting trick to play on anyone. Despite the fact he is one of the 19 players that Motherwell sacked when they went into Interim Administration and his undignified comments about the club afterwards, I feel very very sorry that this incident has happened.

This is the first entry in my new Blog. And what an apt day it is to start the whole thing off.

Firstly the good news is that Motherwell will be in the SPL next season as a result of last night's failed attempt by Falkirk to have the former SPL decision not to allow them promotion. This has been a saga that has made Scottish football a laughing stock, but it is good to see that good sense has prevailed in the end - the fact that it is in Motherwell's favour is a nice bonus. I have felt that as Motherwell were bottom of the SPL last season they deserved to be relegated, but there is no way that Falkirk should have been allowed up because their ground arrangements did not meet SPL specifications.

I feel really sorry for Falkirk fans as they are the ones to suffer because of the incompetence of their management.

The second piece of news is the very sad news of the death of Marc-Vivien Foe in a football match last night. It is a real shock, all the more so because he was a fit young man who died while actually playing, in a match being beamed live around the world. It kind of puts all of the other football woes (such as those described in the first couple of paragraphs) into perspective.
